McLeod Plantation

On Friday night, our Troop 750 left for our camping trip to McLeod Plantation. At around 10:30 PM, I went to a meeting with Billy Randall, Mr. Howard, and Mr. Jim. They talked about what was going to happen the next day. After that, everyone else pretty much went to bed.

On Saturday morning, we got up, had breakfast, then got ready for the day. A lot of the camping trip was free time. We saw some big military trucks, restaurant trucks, sweets, rock climbing, and bluegrass bands. We celebrated 100 years of Scouting, and some families came to visit us, too. We then had supper, then cleaned up . Later that night, Mr. Jim, Mr. Howard , another leader, and I went to a meeting at 10:00 PM, then, most of us went to bed.

On Sunday morning, we got up and had breakfast. After that, at 8:00 AM, we went to a ceremony with our Troop flag and our American flag. As soon as that was over, we then went back to our camp sight, packed up our kitchen gear, then our personal camping gear. Then, we all went back home.

Fishing At Oscar's Farm, June 20, 2009

I got up around 7:00 AM. I got in my scout Class B uniform. Here are the names of the people who came: Youths: Thomas Pittman, me-Nathan, Michael, Danny, Thomas Fleury, Devon, Josh Cady and Mr. Terry's niece: Adults: Mr. Terry Skipper, Mr. Randall Jr., and my dad, Keith. That should be 10 people who came. When we got to the lake, there was an alligator, but I didn't see it. My Dad took a picture of him though, and he was pretty close. Mr. Terry caught 2 big fish that day and my dad got 2 pictures of them, and Thomas caught a fish too. My fishing rod was called The Ugly Stick. It was brand new and stronger than the cane poles I used to fish with. At 12:00 PM, we had 2 PB and J sandwiches and some Cheetos. I had some cinnamon apple sauce, but not all of it ( PB and J stood for peanut butter and jelly). Later that day, my dad caught a small fish, not a keeper, he took a picture of me holding it and named it Nathan Not Impressed With Dad's Catch. Or something like that. I caught a bite, too, but it swam away. I learned right away how to cast a rod. We started from 9 or 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM. It felt sort of like 100 degrees out and we were sweating. In the CRV, Devon rode in the back with me and Josh Cady rode in the front with my dad. As we stopped by the gas station, we got drinks I got Tummy Yummies and they got candy bar snacks. When we went back to the church, we pack and unpacked our stuff, then we left and went back home.

Billy's Eagle Scout Project June 6, 2009

Last Saturday, we went to help Billy with his project. We knocked down the bricks and carried them. We also picked up some trash to clear it up. We had to throw some broken up bricks to the truck, and carry some of the non-broken ones to the perfect brick pile. We couldn't put the red bricks in the recycling pile. Then after that cleaning up, a leaf blower came. Then, Ms. Suzanne took a picture of the group workers with my dad's camera. Then, she bought the pizza for lunch. Then, we had cheese pizza and some sodas. After that, at 11:30 or around 12, we left and went home.

Here is a complete list of names. I have divided them up as Adults and youth. Adults: Jim Randall, Suzanne Randall, James Randall, Wesley Randall, Jennifer Smith, Belinda Powers, Keith Miller, Joe Kerns, Tim Spivey, Myron Johnson Youth: Billy Randall (Scout), Amy Powers, Cody Powers, Cody Scoggins (Scout T-759), Michael Lemelin (Scout T-750), Thomas Fleury (Scout T-700), Nathan Miller (Scout T-750), Thomas Pittman (Scout T-750), Danny Pittman (Scout T-750), Eric Kennedy, Josh Cady (Scout T-750). That should be 20 people that came out to work on Billy's Project.

For pancakes or 3 little, mini pancakes, they had butter and syrup. My Mom stayed the whole time, and I was her waiter. As they started cleaning up at 10:00 AM, we cleared up the tables, I sold 13 tickets in all. After all that, we went home.

Memorial Day Weekend

On Friday, which is today, I went with Mr. Randall to put up the flags in the Brownsville Cemetery to honor our nation's servicemen and women for Memorial Day. The boys that were there were Billly, me (Nathan), Michael, Josh Cady, Aaron, a new boy scout, and a cub scout. The leaders who came were my dad, Mr. Randall, and a leader from the cub scout pack. We also had to bring our sashes, Billy had 21 and I had 2 merit badges. Michael and I brought our Boy Scouting Troop 750 BSA hats. It was 5:00 when we started. We thought they forgot to put a flag in the front of the grave stone near the woods, but they didn't. There was just a few drops of rain, but then it stopped. My dad took pictures because, I was busy putting up the flag. I had 3 or 4 flags left when we stopped. Then, I put the rest of them up. After that, we got all hot and sweaty, and we got bottles of water, also we had a meeting after that. Then, we all went home to change from our whole uniforms to our normal and regular clothes, shorts and T-shirts.

Camping at Poinsett State Park - April 17-19, 2009

Our April camping trip was at Poinsett State Park. I wasn't sick this time. One of my boy scout friends named Thomas turned 13 on April 17th, 2009. I shared a tent with Michael. After we set up our tents, I watched my dad play a classical guitar, it was mine. I took a picture of him. We had a campfire going. I stayed up till 11:00 PM. They had a meeting, I thought they were going to play Reveille on either Saturday or Sunday, but they didn't. Before that, we had cupcake and a bit of milk.

The next day, we got up around 7 or 7:30 AM. We had eggs and french toast, but the eggs were cold. We had peanut butter syrup for our french toast. They started to get a bit cold too. It was around 50 degrees at night and around 50 or 60 in the morning. But then, it started to get warm, about 70 or 80 degrees in the day time. The newer boy scouts had raised a flag and Thomas led The Pledge of Allegiance. Then Devon taught us how to use an ax, and Josh taught how to start a fire without matches.

Present on the camp out was me, Thomas, Brandon, one of the new scouts, Michael, Josh Cady, Billy, and Devon. Danny and Kevin didn't come to this one. The leaders came too, Mr. Hunter, Mr. Randall, Ms. Suzanne, Ms. Sarah, my dad, and Mr. Terry. One of the new scouts was sick, and Brandon had a sore throat from the cold while he was on the camp out. Then we went on another hike, because, me, Thomas, Michael, and Brandon went on the 1st hike. The 2nd hike was a 5 mile hike. We were hiking along the path, on the mountain top and around a circle, we took lots of rests. We saw giant tadpoles, and a guy was catching a fish. When we got back to the campsite, the rest of the scouts were cooking burritos for supper. We had them at 5:30 PM. Later that evening, we were playing a game called capture the flag and tagging. Some of the evening, we played the Viking Sword game. This time, I went to bed at 10:00 PM, because I was tired. Before that, my dad left, and I did fine on my own. I had cake for dessert before that, for Thomas' 13th birthday. Then, we got the Totin' chip card, and our fire safety card.

The next morning, I had a bit of my omelet, but I didn't like it much, and toast with strawberry jelly, and a bit of milk. Josh Cady didn't like his omelet either, because, it wasn't cooked all the way done and it had a bit of dirt in it. We had a short church service. We even got to say the Lord's prayer. Then we packed up and cleaned the dishes. Then we got a ride back home at 10:30 AM, but we didn't return till 12 PM, my dad returned at 12:30 PM. Then we said good-bye and went back home.
